Grants and Tax Incentives

Some €137 million of Exchequer funding within the National Development Plan 2007-2013 has been designated for tourism product development projects. As part of the process Fáilte Ireland designed a new suite of capital grant funding programmes to stimulate investment in tourism, for elements of the National Development Plan (NDP), which we administer.

While the suite of capital grants had been placed on hold earlier in 2009, following the budget announcement in December 2009 of €21 million in funding towards attractions and walking/cycling routes, it is intended to reactivate the suite of capital grants.

Other funding and tax schemes available for tourism products and enterprises include non-capital grants, the Business Expansion Schemes and Hotel Capital Allowances.
