Who should enter the Web-Check Challenge?

The Web-Check Challenge is open exclusively to tourism SMEs who have completed the Web-Check programme. Before you apply you must consider the developments you have undertaken since your Web-Check site visit such as:

  • What measures have you taken to ensure that your hospitality website is professional-looking and easy-to-navigate?

  • How have you used Customer Relationship Management (CRM) (CRM is a system that helps you manage your relationships with customers, it includes the capture, storage and analysis of customer information. For example, an e-mail list of existing and potential clients?)

  • Have you created an e-mail newsletter to promote the hospitality products and services you offer?

  • Have you used search engine optimisation (SEO)? (SEO is the use of various techniques to improve a web site's ranking in the search engines to attract more visitors.)

  • Have you used Google Adwords or other techniques to boost your online marketing campaign?

  • Have you used any social networking applications? For example, YouTube, Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc?

  • Have you collaborated with complementary local businesses as a clustered/joint tourism promotion venture?

  • How have you applied traditional offline marketing with the developments of your website?

Your hospitality website’s effectiveness will be measured against several key factors including: its look and feel, its navigation and its functionality. The judging panel will require evidence that successfully demonstrates how your website has attracted tourism customers; is user friendly; easy to navigate; checks availability and takes bookings; and encourages customers to return to your site. Be as creative as possible and show how best practice measures can reflect your tourism business offerings to optimum effect.
