Tips for a successful 30-second pitch

  • Briefly outline what your company offers and where it's located.
  • Give pricing details and describe the type of operators/tourists you serve.
  • Remember that contacts will probably have to listen to many similar pitches. How is your product unique? Be direct eg "we are unique because ...."
  • If you focus on the questions foremost in your customers' minds, they are more likely to engage with you.

Make the most of an event

Get maximum benefit from trade and consumer shows by following these three simple steps.

Step 1: Prepare properly

Compare events and decide how some might better suit your needs.

Ask yourself:

  • Is it a good opportunity to launch my new package or retain an existing customer base?
  • Am I likely to meet key decision-makers there?
Compile a database of trade contacts who may be in attendance. Communicate your attendance to the organisers as far in advance as possible.

Step 2: Engage with the people you meet

Prepare and practice a short, punchy description of your company. This "30 Second Pitch" is the best way of making prospective clients notice and remember you.
  • Briefly outline what your company offers and where it's located.
  • Give pricing details and describe the type of operations/tourists you serve.
  • How is your product unique? Remember that contacts will probably have to listen to may similar pitches.

Step 3: Follow up after the show

Did you know that 80% of trade show attendees do not follow up on contacts they have made? Make sure you're in the 20% that do! Follow up quickly.

Don't send the same thing to each contact. Instead, personalise your communication by drawing on any memorable aspects of your face-to-face conversation.
