    Business tourism training

MICE Tourism is big business for Ireland – it's worth over €669 million to the economy, and business tourists are worth two/three times more than an average leisure tourist. Our new MICE training programme will help you to maximise the opportunities available in business tourism.

The objective of the programme is to assist individual businesses in the tourism industry to understand the opportunities available in the MICE sector and the unique needs of the industry marketplace. You will learn from our experts how to market your product and gain insights on the latest trends in the industry.

    What is MICE tourism?

Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, or MICE, is a segment of tourism in which large groups are brought together for a particular purpose. Other descriptors which are used internationally to describe this segment include the Meetings Industry, Business Tourism and the Events Industry.

The MICE sector includes a wide variety of events — for example, a conference, an internal staff meeting, a product launch, an exhibition or an incentive trip, amongst others.

Incentive tourism is usually used as an opportunity for companies to reward their employees for targets met or exceeded, or a job well done. Alternatively, it can be used to motivate and improve the business climate within organisations. Unlike the other types of MICE tourism, incentive tourism is usually conducted purely for entertainment, rather than professional or educational purposes.

MICE events are usually focused on a theme or topic and are aimed at a professional, academic or trade organisation or other special interest group.

Best practice in preparing and responding to requests for proposals (RFPs)

The MICE industry is increasingly competitive, with more and more destinations competing for the same business. It is important that we all put our best foot forward when responding to RFPs, to ensure that we do our best to win international events for Ireland.

The PowerPoint presentation below will outline the key points to consider when preparing an RFP, and the protocols to consider within your team to ensure a timely response.

Blueprint for site inspections – how to add value to your program

We host site inspections to allow key decision makers see the world-class facilities Ireland has to offer. They are an important sales opportunity for you to win business and build relationships with international meeting planners.

The PowerPoint presentation below is full of helpful information to help you to customise your site inspections for each event’s specific requirements.
