Visitors want fun, surprise and entertainment on holiday. Good interpretation and lively, authentic animation of our culture and heritage can bring destinations to life. Animation should make the experience for visitors both richer and more relevant.
In 2012 Fáilte Ireland will work with destinations and attractions including the Waterford Viking Quarter, Dublin Heritage Trail, Kilkenny Trail, Cork Harbour and Galway city. We will work with both communities and businesses to find the stories, myths and legends that can be brought to life. We want to explore how to make local heritage as entertaining as possible with the story of a destination told through actors and re-enactments, musicians, street performers, storytellers, technology, signage, tours and other media.
Practically, we will interact with the arts community and others on a pilot basis throughout 2012, following this with customer feedback to deliver a return to the local area and its businesses.
