Eleven representatives from top global travel agents in countries Australia, New Zealand, China, India, South Africa and UAE, have arrived in Ireland to learn more about Fáilte Ireland’s three major tourism brands: Ireland’s Ancient East; the Wild Atlantic Way; and Dublin – A Breath of Fresh Air.  The buyers completed an Ireland Specialist programme before arriving to Ireland and represent some of the most influential high end tour operators who have expressed an interest in growing their business into Ireland.

Among the group are one of the world’s largest travel agency groups, Flight Centre Travel Group, Australia, which has company-owned operations in 14 countries and a corporate travel management network that spans more than 90 countries. The other agents include Quantas Holidays, Australia; Etihad Holidays, UAE; Tempo Holidays and Travel Brokers, New Zealand; Kulula Holidays, South Africa; Teniu.com and China Comfort Group, China; Kesari Tours and BCD Travel India.

A tailored itinerary has been designed for the group to promote Ireland and is hosted and managed by Fáilte Ireland in collaboration with Tourism Ireland.  Their action packed itinerary starts in Ireland’s Ancient East where they get to visit the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre, and take a guided tour of Trim Castle, in County Meath.  It’s then on to the National Stud and Japanese Gardens in Kildare for a guided tour before departing for Kildare Shopping Village and a site visit to Carton House Hotel.

Explaining the importance of such trips, Ciara Sugrue, Head of International Publicity with Fáilte Ireland, said:

“Fáilte Ireland is delighted with this opportunity to showcase our tourism brands to these top global travel agents and hope their experiences will help them to persuade their many clients to visit us in the future. Bringing these travel agents to Ireland and showing them what is on offer plays an integral role in ensuring that Ireland is a must-see destination and will be included in their programmes for the year ahead.

“Their interest in learning more about Ireland is testimony to the strength of our attraction with  these influential travel agents having the capacity to deliver more visitors to Ireland with their presence further highlighting Ireland’s appeal as a destination.”

The group will be provided with a presentation and briefing from Fáilte Ireland on the three tourism brands when they arrive in Dublin before they get to experience the City’s many attractions including the Guinness Storehouse, EPIC – The Irish Emigration Museum, Trinity College and the Book of Kells together with site visits to the Trinity City Hotel and the Westbury Hotel.   In addition, they will also participate in a Treasure Hunt around the City culminating with a networking lunch at the Westbury Hotel with key Irish trade who work directly with these markets.
