Tour Operators visit counties Cork, Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny and Carlow

Travel agents, representing top tour operators Eurotours, Sabtours, AG Traveltrend, Cotravel and ThobaReisen from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, have arrived in Ireland to learn more about Fáilte Ireland’s major tourism brands the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East.

The tailored visit is hosted and managed by Fáilte Ireland in collaboration with Tourism Ireland to maximise opportunities around the new air routes available through Cork Airport.  Following a welcome reception at the airport, the group enjoyed a walking tour of the City; had a site visit of the Trident Hotel in Kinsale, visited the Charles Fort, dinner and an overview of Ferhill House Hotel and Gardens in Clonakilty ahead of visiting Blarney Castle and Blarney Woollen Mills Hotel.

The group also had an opportunity to visit Ireland’s Ancient East taking in a tour of Dunbrody Famine Ship Museum and the Irish National Heritage Park in Wexford.  A visit to the Waterford Museum of Treasure and Athenium House Hotel were also on the itinerary before heading to the medieval city of Kilkenny for a tour of Kilkenny Castle and the Medieval Mile - finishing their tour at Huntington Castle and Mount Wolseley Hotel in County Carlow.

Ciara Sugrue, Fáilte Ireland’s Head of International Publicity, explained –

“Fáilte Ireland is delighted with this opportunity to showcase our signature tourism offering across our brands to these visiting top group and leisure tour operators, who represent the top group and leisure segment of the European market.

Their interest in learning more about Ireland is testimony to the strength of our attraction.  With so many routes direct from Cork, these influential and key decision makers have the capacity to deliver significant amounts of visitors to Ireland and their presence here further highlights Ireland’s appeal as a destination.”
