Major European Conference for Co. Cork
In a significant coup, Clonakilty District has been chosen to host a major EU conference on tourism – to take place on February 24th 2009.This will be the first EU European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) event that will be held outside of Brussels and will involve delegates from 19 different countries.

Fáilte Ireland, has today announced funding of over €1.25 million for Dublinia, a medieval visitor attraction located in the heart of the city. The funding is part of Fáilte Ireland’s NDP allocation designated for tourism product development.

Get a Life in Tourism, a free annual magazine aimed at encouraging school-leavers to consider a career in tourism, has been launched for 2008/2009, by Fáilte Ireland and the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF). The 72-page publication, which is distributed in secondary schools throughout the country, acts as a valuable resource for exploring a career in Ireland’s largest indigenous industry.

The agents who are all members from top level groups in the US, such as Virtuoso, Ensemble, Signature, AAA and Wagon Lits, will attend the one day workshop as part of a nationwide familiarisation visit.
