13/03/2009
Master’s Apprentice series to begin on RTE
Local potter Nicholas Mosse will star in the Master’s Apprentice on RTE One on 24th March as part of a six part series supported by Fáilte Ireland, the national tourism development authority. Nicholas worked with Dublin native, Shona Flood who spent a week at his Bennettsbridge workshop learning the tricks of the pottery trade.
Gary Breen, General Manager of Fáilte Ireland South East, believes the show will provide a valuable opportunity to showcase what is on offer in the South East region and hopes it will persuade the watching audience to take a break in Ireland this year.
“Research shows that more Irish people may well consider swapping their overseas trips with a holiday in Ireland this year. Fáilte Ireland has recently launched an aggressive marketing campaign to persuade Irish people to take a break at home in 2009. This programme, spotlighting the cultural and crafts attractions to be found in the South East, will allow Irish people to consider the South East region when planning their home holiday.”
Over the course of her time at their pottery Nicholas and his wife, Susan set apprentice Shona challenges to see if she had what it took to make it in their line of business. Can Shona take on board their methods, learn how to market herself and her ideas, design and produce something from scratch and of high enough quality do her famous master proud? Tune in to RTE 1 on Tuesday 24th March at 7pm to find out.
Each programme in the Fáilte Ireland series recognises and celebrates the featured operator’s achievements in tourism and sees them impart their knowledge and expertise on to candidates interested in establishing similar businesses throughout Ireland.
