Fáilte Ireland launches new €160k advertising blitz for Wexford

Details were today announced of a new €160,000 advertising campaign for Wexford funded by Fáilte Ireland, Wexford County Council and the local tourism industry. A national radio and newspaper advertising campaign which began promoting the county at the start of July will continue until the end of August.

The campaign will complement the larger Discover Ireland campaign launched by the Fáilte Ireland earlier this year.  A mixture of radio and press adverts will highlight what there is to do in Wexford while making the claim that ‘the best family holidays are built on Wexford sand’ – thus, driving the awareness of Wexford as a premier family holiday hotspot.

Speaking today, Gary Breen, Fáilte Ireland’s Head of Operations in the South East stressed:

“This is a coordinated, impactful marketing campaign for Wexford. We, in Fáilte Ireland, believe that there is great potential in the home holiday market this summer and we are determined to put Wexford in the frame as many families now sit down to plan their breaks.”

He added that “this campaign represents the largest ever home holiday campaign for Wexford and is a perfect example of the benefits of all the local tourism interests working together for the greater good.”

Eddie Breen, Wexford County Manager agreed with the need to work together and stressed the family focus of the new campaign, adding:

“The campaign is designed to encourage Irish people to holiday in Wexford and in particular to encourage Irish families to enjoy the beautiful beaches of Wexford”

As well as significant support from Fáilte Ireland and Wexford County Council this new marketing campaign is also being co-funded by 24 local tourism businesses (please see names below). One of those involved, Colm Neville of the Riverside Hotel in Enniscorthy, stated:

“Tourism is important to the local Wexford economy and Wexford, in turn, is a unique part of Irish tourism. For that reason, I am very pleased to be part of the significant level of support for this campaign from the local industry - a level which is unprecedented, with businesses from across Wexford contributing to the campaign”

The campaign will feature national radio and press advertising with a particular emphasis on Dublin. Advertising, which will be supported by dedicated Wexford advertorials, will appear in the national weekend press including the Sunday Independent and the Sunday World. Broadcast advertising will involve national and regional radio including Today FM, 2FM; 98 FM, Spin 103.8 FM; FM 104; and Q102FM.

All communications will direct potential customers to a specifically designed Wexford campaign page on the Fáilte Ireland’s consumer website www.discoverireland.ie/Wexford
