Want to discover the secret life of the Blackstairs Mountains in County Carlow, Ireland? Want to know more about birds, flora, fungi, mammals and butterflies of the Blackstairs mountains and the River Barrow? We’ll lead you on an unhurried, relaxing eco walk – low hills to no hills!

We run Eco Trails, Guided Hikes, Workshops, Foraging, The Foraging Hen Events – Elegant Hen Parties for Elegant Brides, Teachers Courses, School Visits Childrens Trails and Fun in the Wild! The Celtic Tree Trail is a new product and will go up on our web site shortly.

The itinerary for the day is as follows:

  • An exciting introduction to the Celtic Tree Alphabet and the Ogham inscriptions for each tree and their place in Celtic mythology and folkore.
  • Each tree has its own indvidual Ogham sign and we will introduce our guests to the fascinating world of Celtic Trees.
  • The Celts categorized their trees into seven "Nobles" and seven "Commoners". All these trees, some very fine specimens, are growing in our grounds.
  • We will guide our guests around our Celtic Tree Trail which takes an hour and a half, followed by soup and sandwiches.
  • Information sheets will also be handed out.
