    People are the key to any successful tourism business and in light of Brexit, experience delivery and remaining competitive will be even more important for the sustainability and growth of any business. To assist you with the development plans for your staff, Fáilte Ireland has developed these customised supports which are designed to optimise the strategic and operational capability of your business.

    Please note that the supports listed on this page have been designed as Fáilte Ireland’s national response to Brexit. On an ongoing basis, Fáilte Ireland offers training and supports programmes which will be available at a local level.

    Get Brexit Ready – Information Sessions

    The impact of Brexit will likely mean that companies will face many changes, opportunities and challenges over the next few years. These Fáilte Ireland Brexit Information Sessions [PDF, 251KB] in Dublin, Cavan, Bundoran, Cork and Wexford will give you the most up-to-date information and supports available for your business. Additional sessions may be added based on demand.

    Building Business Performance and Competitiveness Skills

    This suite of supports is designed to assist businesses in improving their performance and competitiveness which is key to the sustainability of any business particularly in an uncertain market environment.

    • The Level 1 Revenue Management programme [pdf, 283kb] (hotels) is designed specifically for those who are beginning to manage the daily revenue and distribution processes within their business. The programme will give them the skill sets to achieve, among other things, optimum pricing, good rate control and key metrics analysis for their business.
       

    • The Level 2 Revenue Management (hotels) programme [pdf, 283kb] will help participants manage and use key metrics to inform the optimal channel mix and to enhance the skills required to manage the revenue and its role in the total business process.
       

    • The Revenue & Distribution Masterclass [word doc, 1.1mb] is a strategic revenue management programme which focuses on the revenue & distribution trends into the future and the impact digital distribution will have on revenue streams. Only those who have successfully completed Level 2 Revenue Management will be eligible to attend this programme.

    This section holds a number of easy to use checklists and templates to help across a wide range of business activities so feel free to download and use them for your business.


    GB and NI Market Retention and Opportunities

    A number of programmes have been developed to enhance the sales skills within the industry with a focus on retaining existing business in GB & NI, identifying new opportunities and to source additional business in new markets.

    • International Sales Development Programme [pdf, 376kb] (GMs / Owner Managers) aims to help businesses optimise growth from some or all of the key markets. The programme will provide individuals with leading-edge sales management tools, use action learning techniques and deliver key insights from those working locally with buyers in each market.

    • International Sales Development Programme [pdf, 468kb] (Sales and Marketing Managers) aims to help businesses optimise growth from some or all of the key markets. The programme will provide individuals with leading-edge sales management tools, use action learning techniques and deliver key insights from those working locally with buyers in each market.

    Enhancing People Skills

    This suite of development programmes are targeted at all levels of your business from owners and senior executives to mid managers and front line staff.

    • The Fáilte Ireland Executive Management Development Programme [pdf, 283kb] is being run in partnership with the Irish Management Institute (IMI) and is focused on Senior Executives in the Hospitality and Tourism sector who want to gain a greater understanding of the opportunities that exist for their business and how to leverage these opportunities to drive growth.
       

    • The Enhancing your Management & Supervisory [pdf, 335kb] skills programme focuses on the upskilling of staff on the key principles and techniques needed to operate as an effective and efficient Supervisor /Manager.
       

    • The SOP Management Programme [pdf, 334kb] (to achieve Service Excellence) enables Supervisors / Managers to upskill themselves in the area of developing, communicating and implementing SOPs within the business with the objective of providing consistent Best in Class service to customers. 
       

    • Let service excellence become the differentiator between your business and your competitors with the Service Excellence Programme [pdf, 252kb]. This programme aims to upskill your front line staff to consistently provide excellent customer service.
