Earn & Learn
In the current economic climate, full-time education is not always an option. For those who want to improve their skills and who may be in full-time employment in the tourism industry the ‘earn and learn’ model is ideal. Employees can access college education on a part-time basis while training on the job. This option is also available to school leavers who have employment in the sector and who may not savour the idea of full time education.
Benefits for the student:
- Graduates receive a fully recognised qualification while working full time
- Students receive valuable paid work experience in a ‘best practice’ establishment in the tourism industry
- College fees are supported by Fáilte Ireland – (with the exception of the Trainee Manager Development Programme)*
* Some colleges may charge an additional fee to candidates.
Benefits for the employer:
- Staff commit to the programme and to their supporting employer for a specified period
- Staff upgrade their skills in an accelerated manner
- Increased staff motivation and productivity
Students must have an employer to get on to this course. The employer must register with Fáilte Ireland and nominate the student for the course. The employer must also provide a ‘mentor’ at the workplace, to provide assistance and support to the student for the duration of the course. The various courses are run in Institutes of Technology throughout the country.
