    20 June 2012

Volvo organisers take the reins at Salthill Tourist Centre

Fáilte Ireland has handed over the keys of the Discover Ireland Centre in Salthill to Lets Do It Global, organisers of the upcoming Volvo Ocean Race Grand Finale. The office will be used as a broadcast centre for international TV crews visiting Galway during the Volvo finale from 30th June until the 8th July 2012.

Failte Ireland is supporting the event through a variety of initiatives including the recently launched national domestic advertising and promotional campaign, which incorporates a wide range of media including national prime time TV, Radio, Outdoor & on-line advertising. In order to make sure that visitors to Galway have a world class and memorable experience, a  number of other training and development initiatives are also being carried out by Fáilte Ireland locally in the lead up to this event.  These include the “Quality, Value and Service Charter” aimed at all city businesses with customer facing front line personnel.

Fiona Monaghan, Head of Operations, Fáilte Ireland in the West and Lakelands, commented:

“We are delighted to offer Lets Do It Global the use of this property for their International TV Centre for the event. The Volvo Ocean Race Grand Finale is a huge opportunity for Galway to shine on the world’s stage.  With over 300 international media scheduled to visit our City between June 30th and July 8th we in Fáilte Ireland want to make sure that Galway offers a world class experience to all our visitors and one that will remain with them for years to come.”
