Fáilte Ireland welcomes world’s most influential travel bloggers to Dublin for Global Social Media Conference

Fáilte Ireland’s Director of Marketing, John Concannon, this morning welcomed 600 travel bloggers to Ireland at the launch of TBEX 2013, the Travel Bloggers Exchange - the world’s largest conference and networking event for online travel journalists which takes place today and tomorrow.

Mr Concannon emphasised:

“The future of travel and tourism is increasingly digital and the voice of bloggers is becoming more and more influential in helping travellers to decide which destinations to choose.  I hope that while you are amongst us here in Ireland this week that you link, tweet, Facebook and ‘like’ all the great things to see and do here”.

TBEX 2013 arrives in Ireland following a tough competitive process which saw Fáilte Ireland’s bid ultimately win out over other international venues to bring the event here. Many of the delegates have taken the opportunity, while here, to tour Ireland on a number of Fáilte Ireland-organised tours and share their experiences with their followers.

Fáilte Ireland has also capitalised on its hosting of this event to create opportunities for Irish tourism business to engage, play their part and reap benefits through the associated social media exposure.

The tourism authority has offered businesses the opportunity to meet and engage with the travel bloggers so that they can experience their tourism product on pre and post event press visits around the country and in Dublin.
Approximately 250 tourism businesses have taken part in a webinar with key TBEX speakers on ‘Building relationships with Travel Bloggers’ and Fáilte Ireland has secured discounted places for tourism businesses to attend the event to engage with bloggers and learn from Conference speakers who are world leaders in their field.

Mr Concannon added:

“This is an excellent opportunity for Irish tourism businesses to get ‘wired’ and plug in to the opportunities that social media offers them to win more fans, visitors and revenue.”
