A group of owners and senior managers, representing hotels and restaurants from Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kilkenny and Limerick, convened this week at the Pembroke Hotel in Kilkenny for an induction to Fáilte Ireland’s Executive Management Programme, designed in conjunction with Cornell University, USA.
Now in its 8th year, the programme addresses a range of job-related topics with emphasis on strategy, marketing, finance, innovation, dynamic management as well as an operations module which is held in Cornell University, New York. The programme also includes a series of web-based learning courses, webinars and video conferencing. Participants will apply the concepts being taught back in their workplaces and the impact of their learning will be assessed throughout the course on its conclusion next June at Trinity College.
Speaking at the induction, Mary Hall, Fáilte Ireland’s Programme Manager urged the participants to make the most of this investment in terms of their time as well as financially.
“We are delighted with this blended learning approach, which allows us to work closely with Cornell University in the USA and taps into their wealth of knowledge and cutting-edge thinking. In addition to the Cornell accredited certificate, the course design allows for networking amongst the participants and this in turn ensures development of great business relationships and deeper and more open communication - all of which will ultimately benefit Irish tourism.”
She continued: “The module is designed to help enhance their business by getting them to think differently about how they do things in the future. I would also like to express Fáilte Ireland’s admiration for the commitment of these busy managers to focus on their development and business improvement at this challenging time in our industry.
