The Local Experts Programme returns to twelve locations across the country from September 9th

Fáilte Ireland’s Local Experts Programme returns this autumn. The programme has been developed to support those involved in the tourism sector and the local community to share useful information with visitors.  Visitors will have a far richer experiences, potentially stay longer, tell others about their experiences and so local businesses will benefit financially. This programme consists of a 2.5-hour fun, interactive and dynamic workshop on what to see and do in the host locations.

Become a Local Expert by attending one of the workshops listed below. The workshops take place at 09.30 and 15.30 at each location. Registration takes place 30 minutes before the workshops begin.

SLIGO -  Sligo Southern Hotel, 9th September
DONEGAL -  Harvey's Point Resort, 10th September
CORK -  Páirc Uí Chaoimh, 24th September
GALWAY -  The Salthill Hotel, 1st October
KILKENNY -  Hoban Hotel, 2nd October
DONEGAL -  Clanree Hotel, 8th October
DUBLIN -  Glasnevin Cemetery, 9th October
WATERFORD -  The Tower Hotel, 15th October
LIMERICK - The Savoy Hotel, 16th October
GALWAY -  Connemara Peacockes Hotel, 23rd October
KILKENNY -  Hotel Kilkenny, 5th November
LIMERICK -  Radisson Blu Limerick, 12th November
                           
More than 1,600 local business people, tourism professionals and local community representatives have already joined the Local Experts network. The programme features annual events; social media initiatives; a Visitor Attractions Pass and opportunities to network with other tourism professionals.

Explaining the programme, Linda Campbell, Visitor Engagement Manager with Fáilte Ireland said: 

“The Local Experts programme has been a great success so far, with people from across the tourism industry and local community participating in the workshops, joining the network and sharing information, ideas and business. We know how important local knowledge is in making a positive memorable visitor experience and this programme helps to maximise that by working together with our growing network of Local Experts.”

Fáilte Ireland, the National Tourism Development Authority is calling on all visitor-facing employees, local volunteers and people that regularly interact with visitors to join the Local Experts network by attending one of the bespoke workshops. So, if you own a B&B, work in a hotel, restaurant, pub, retail store, taxi company, or if you are active in your local community, this programme is for you. 

This is a free event and places are on a first come first serve basis.
