Fáilte Ireland & Laois Tourism join forces with local businesses to develop top visitor experiences

New workshop forms part of Fáilte Ireland and Laois Tourism’s ongoing work to develop tourism across the county

Fáilte Ireland and Laois Tourism have teamed up to provide visitor attractions across the county with training and insights to develop top-class experiences which have the potential to attract more overseas visitors.

The Experience Development Training Workshop, which took place in the Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise today, brought together over 20 businesses from Laois with a focus on developing exceptional and memorable visitor experiences, and the most effective strategies to target key overseas markets.

This training follows a bespoke workshop with festival organisers in Laois last week, and is part of Fáilte Ireland and Laois tourism’s ongoing work to develop the tourism offering in the county.

Jenny De Saulles, Head of Ireland’s Ancient East at Fáilte Ireland, said:
“Top-class and compelling visitor experiences are not just an integral part of the Ireland’s Ancient East brand – they are a fundamental draw in attracting overseas visitors to the region. Laois has some really strong attractions including Emo Court and Timahoe Round Tower, and our work with Laois Tourism is focused on developing what is on offer so that it stands out in the international marketplace.

“Today’s workshop is part of an ongoing programme of development activity Fáilte Ireland has in place with Laois Tourism to ensure that there is a strong tourism offering across the county in Laois, from immersive experiences and attractions to festivals and events – all with the focus working together to cross-promote and drive increased visitor numbers and revenue.”

Rose Bergin at Laois Tourism said:
“Laois Tourism was delighted with the Experience Development workshop that took place today in Portlaoise. It really gave our businesses in Laois a chance to look at their tourism offering from the customers’ perspective. It was jam-packed with practical and constructive advice that people could identify with. We are very grateful to have Fáilte Ireland as an ongoing support to Laois and Laois Tourism.”
