Fáilte Ireland calls on Donegal industry to tap into business tourism

Annual AIPCO Business Tourism Conference takes place in Donegal

With the 7th Annual AIPCO Business Tourism Conference set to take place at Lough Eske Castle later this month, Fáilte Ireland has called on local tourism industry to secure their spot at the event and find out how they can tap into the lucrative business tourism market.

Fáilte Ireland is the headline sponsor of this year’s AIPCO Business Tourism Conference, which is a must-attend event for anyone involved in business tourism in Ireland and will see up to 200 delegates make their way to Donegal from Thursday 21st – Friday 22nd March, contributing significantly to the local economy.

With Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs), Destination Management Companies (DMCs), Convention Bureaux and Specialist Event Companies all in attendance, the event will provide a platform for businesses such as venues, hotels, transport companies, restaurants and exhibition specialists to showcase their offering and grow business tourism into their venues and portfolio of work.

Ciara Gallagher, Fáilte Ireland’s Meet in Ireland Manager, said:
“Business tourism continues to be fundamental in the growth of the wider tourism sector and is currently worth at least €760million to the Irish economy, supporting 22,000 jobs. The Annual AIPCO Business Tourism Conference is a brilliant opportunity to showcase Donegal to conference planners from across the country. I would urge any business operating in the tourism space to secure a space at this event – it is an unprecedented opportunity to network directly with event planners and companies in Donegal. Business tourism is a highly lucrative sector and is also vital in extending the tourism season for many businesses, as conference delegates typically arrive in the off-peak season.

“Across the country, there is significant potential for future growth in the business tourism space, and Fáilte Ireland is working on growing the sector during the next six years to bring its value to the Irish economy over the €1billion mark. 2019 is off to a strong start and we will be actively seeking out every opportunity to secure more business for Ireland.”

Businesses can secure a space at the conference by registering here.

Jaime Bennett, Chair of AIPCO, added:
“AIPCO are delighted to bringing our 7th Annual Business Tourism Conference to Donegal in collaboration with SITE Ireland and proudly supported by Failte Ireland.

“2019 marks the associations 20th Anniversary and no better way to celebrate this by cementing our theme ‘The Power of One’ which will see Ireland’s entire business tourism industry coming together from 21st – 22nd March to learn, share knowledge and network together. We have created an innovative educational and experiential programme making it a must-attend event for anyone involved in the Business Tourism in Ireland.”
