Fáilte Ireland hails the importance of Carlow’s historic houses on RTÉ’s Nationwide

The fascinating stories behind Carlow’s historic houses, including Huntington Castle, Altamont House, Duckett’s Grove and Borris House, will be brought to life on RTÉ’s Nationwide.

Fáilte Ireland’s Jenny De Saulles, who heads up the Ireland’s Ancient East team, will also feature in the programme to discuss the important role Carlow’s great houses play in attracting overseas visitors to the region.

Speaking about Carlow’s historic houses, Jenny De Saulles said:
“Ireland’s Ancient East's key selling point is its rich heritage and captivating history and Carlow, with its collection of historic houses and gardens, plays a key role in telling this story to international and domestic visitors.

“Our core overseas markets - Germany, France, UK and the US - actively look for interactive, hands-on experiences that bring local heritage to life, and houses such as Huntington Castle and Duckett’s Grove deliver this in spades. I am delighted that, through Nationwide, Irish audiences will hear about the storied pasts of these houses and why they are so important for local tourism.

“Our focus is to continue working closely with the local tourism industry and the fantastic staff at these attractions to develop visitor experiences such as these which resonate in the international marketplace, and drive more visitors to stay longer and spend more in the local area.”

Nationwide will air on RTÉ One at 7pm on Monday 11th February 2019.
