Fáilte Ireland uses Dublin Tech Summit to Bring More World-Class Events to Ireland

Fáilte Ireland is leveraging this week’s Dublin Tech Summit, which has brought more than 10,000 attendees to the Convention Centre Dublin, to create more major overseas tech events on Irish shores.

The tourism development authority – a founding sponsor of the summit – has brought together over 20 Irish tech associations, which represent software and information systems companies across the country, for a special briefing on how they can help to bring more major international tech events to Ireland through Fáilte Ireland’s Conference Ambassador Programme.

Over 75 per cent of all international association conferences that come to Ireland do so at the direct invitation of a local Irish member or host, something which Fáilte Ireland’s Meet in Ireland maximises through its Conference Ambassador programme – a unique programme which supports individuals and experts who want to host an international conference in Ireland.

At the breakfast briefing in the Marker Hotel, the Irish associations were also joined by two major UK and one US tech association, who could potentially bring new events to Ireland. They then headed to the Dublin Tech Summit, to see the world-class tech event in action, and to hear from one of the Fáilte Ireland Conference Ambassadors behind it.

Dublin Tech Summit takes place on 18th and 19th April, with delegates coming from a total of 72 countries. The event brings together global leaders in innovation, technology and business to discuss the future of global trends and technologies.

Dublin alone is home to nine of the world’s top 10 technology companies (including Google, Facebook and PayPal), while 50% of the world’s top banks, the top 10 pharmaceutical companies and 17 of the top medical technology companies are also located in the capital.

Fáilte Ireland’s Head of Commercial Development, Paul Mockler emphasised:

“Fáilte Ireland is delighted to support the Dublin Tech Summit once again this year. Hosting events like this gives us the perfect opportunity to showcase Dublin’s huge strengths as a vibrant city and a centre for innovation. It also demonstrates why Dublin is the ideal location in which to host world-class events thanks to its ease of access, top notch venues and renowned hospitality. During the Summit we are looking to recruit expert Conference Ambassadors to help bring future business like this to Ireland.

“As one of the fasting growing Tech Conferences in Europe, we are expecting in excess of 5,000 international business visitors from around the globe this week and we very much look forward to extending the warmest of welcomes to them all.”

Running as far as 2020, Fáilte Ireland will support a €130m pipeline of tech conferences due to take place all over the country. As part of its ongoing drive to grow the number of home-grown events in Ireland, the Meet in Ireland team is actively recruiting more experts in every subject area to its Conference Ambassador Programme.

The Conference Ambassador Programme supports individuals who want to host an international conference in Ireland, and provides assistance and financial support at every stage of the event.
