Development

Statue of Oscar WildeWe work alongside the various cultural sectors to develop the visitor experience of Irish culture.

We strive to support cultural industries in increasing their visitor numbers and reputations overseas by:

  • Making the contemporary aspects of Ireland’s culture more accessible for visitors.
  • Interpreting contemporary culture in such a way that that makes sense to them.
  • Increasing visitor awareness both at home and abroad of the diversity of modern Ireland’s cultural offering.

In bringing the above to life, we work with a wide range of key stakeholders including individual cultural entities with an interest in tourism, as well as organisations such as the Arts Council, the Crafts Council, The Irish Film Board, Culture Ireland, the National Cultural Institutions, and other bodies such as Temple Bar Cultural Trust.

Promotion

Giselle - 2003 productionCultural events and attractions are promoted via our consumer website www.discoverireland.ie, which in turn feeds the overseas websites of Tourism Ireland www.discoverireland.com.

We also work with our publicity colleagues internally to incorporate cultural elements into media visit itineraries and into domestic marketing pieces where possible.

We work with our Tourism Ireland colleagues in further promoting these cultural messages in key overseas markets.
