Participants will sample four local whiskeys, two of which come with local chocolate pairings, handcrafted especially for the tour by Kilbeggan Handmade Chocolate. VikingWhiskey Cruise Many islands on Lough Ree were once inhabited by monks and their whiskey treasures and the world’s earliest documented account of ‘Uisce Beatha’ was recorded in the Annals of Clonmacnoise in 1405. On the tour, participants will delve into the fascinating history and lootings of the Vikings from their arrival by river to Clonmacnoise in 842. Cruising north to Lough Ree visitors will enjoy a whiskey cocktail, discover the centuries-old tradition of whiskey production in the Midlands and compare four contrasting Midlands Whiskeys with food pairings for each, to discern their unique characteristics.
