Recruitment FAQs

Recruitment FAQs

  • How do I apply for a role?
  • When vacancies arise, they are advertised on our Fáilte Ireland Careers page – click here. If you see a vacancy that you feel you are suitable for and wish to apply, please submit an application form following the steps outlined on the role profile.

For most vacancies, we use an online recruitment system called Core Recruit and only the online application form on the e-Recruit system will be accepted to process applications.

However, at times of high volume recruitment, we also partner with Executive Search Agencies to manage some recruitment campaigns. To apply for these roles, please follow the steps outlined on the role profile. The same recruitment process and Fáilte Ireland policies and procedures are applied to all recruitment campaigns.

Applications via LinkedIn and Irishjobs.ie should be automatically channelled through to our website.

We do not accept CVs or any other forms of application and in line with our GDPR and Data Retention policies, we do not keep CVs or any other forms of application on file.

  • What is a Competency-based role profile?
  • The competency-based role profile is one which is designed specifically to reflect core competencies identified by Fáilte Ireland as being fundamental to a successful performance in the role.

Please see here for list of competencies and description.

  • What is the next stage after applying?
  • When you apply through the online recruitment system, you will receive an automatic email acknowledgement of your application from Core Recruit (the email should be from the sender DONOTREPLY).

Once the closing date for applications has passed, we process all applications received. We will revert to all candidates with an outcome once the shortlisting has been finalised.

If you have not been shortlisted for interview you will be contacted via the email address provided.

Candidates who are shortlisted for interview will be informed of the relevant stages in the process and provided with full interview details via email and phone call (on the phone number supplied on your application form).

Typically, there are two rounds of interview. However, this may vary depending on the level and role.

  • If I’m not successful this time, can I apply again for different roles?
  • You can make multiple applications for different roles. If you see a vacancy you feel you are suitable for and you wish to apply, please submit an application through the application process outlined.

  • Is the pay negotiable for roles?
  • Our remuneration is informed by general public sector pay policy, and so the pay is not negotiable.

The successful candidate will commence on the 1st point of the salary scale in line with current Government pay policy unless they have previously worked in the Public Sector.

Any successful candidate who currently works in the civil/public service will transfer across to the Fáilte Ireland salary scales once they can provide a letter from their current employer detailing their current salary. This will only be requested from the successful candidate at offer stage.

The salary range for each role is as stated in the role profile.

  • What if my application is late?
  • Incomplete or late applications will not be considered to ensure fairness to all candidates. The closing date and time is clearly outlined on each role profile.

The onus is on any potential candidate to ensure they follow the application procedures outlined by Fáilte Ireland.

  • What happens if I have technical issues and cannot upload documents?
  • Technical problems with this service should be reported to the recruitment team by email at recruitment@failteireland.ie.

For best results when using Core Recruit, please ensure that you do not use, / or *, as they may hinder uploads. We also advise using the Google Chrome browser when applying for roles.

  • How do I request to delete/erase, rectify, or request a copy of my personal data?
  • To consider the candidate's suitability for recruitment to employment, personal data will be processed. This includes but is not limited to the job application form, references, interview notes, and psychometric tests.

Under the Employment Equality Acts 1998 to 2015, Fáilte Ireland is required to retain your data for 12 months. This is required to ensure that the recruitment process is transparent and that no applicants are discriminated against.

If you would like to request us to delete/erase, rectify, or request a copy of your personal data, please complete the Personal Data Request Form.
