Fáilte Ireland launched a grants scheme for large capital projects in mid-2016 with a call for applications generating high levels of interest and resulting in a very large volume of grant applications being received. Fáilte Ireland has now allocated funding to 20 projects that were successful at Stage 1 under this scheme (subject to the completion of the two-stage application process designed for the scheme). Find full information on the list of Stage 1 Pass Projects [pdf, 118kb].
In addition, Fáilte Ireland has allocated capital funds to projects with a number of strategic partners in other agencies – including the OPW, the National Parks and Wildlife Service, Coillte and Waterways Ireland. Coupled with existing capital projects and the allocation of funds to a number of other priority areas, Fáilte Ireland is currently working on in excess of 75 capital projects spread across the country.
Furthermore, a number of very targeted funding schemes have been launched since 2017:
-
Ireland’s Ancient East – Grants Scheme for Storytelling Interpretation 2017
-
Wild Atlantic Way – New Horizons 2018 (Skellig Coast and the Connemara Coast & Aran Islands)
-
Dublin – Dublin’s Surprising Stories 2018
These schemes will support the industry by investing in existing tourism assets as well as potential new experiences, and will deliver another 30-40 capital projects. Further such schemes are planned in the coming years.
