Office of Public Works
Formed in 2016, a Strategic Partnership was set up between Fáilte Ireland, the Office of Public Works (OPW) and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. The main purpose of the partnership is to invest in a number of iconic attractions of national and international significance to deliver world-class visitor experiences which will in turn increase visitor numbers to these sites and the surrounding areas.
In total, 16 capital investment projects were commenced at some of Ireland’s most visited heritage attractions including Newgrange and Dún Aonghasa on Inis Mór.
Since then, new and improved visitor experiences have been delivered at Ormond Castle, Bru Na Boinne and Carlingford Castle with more to follow. The investment of €16.7 million by Fáilte Ireland is detailed below:
