Home of Halloween Destination Development (Pilot) Scheme 2025

Home of Halloween Destination Development (Pilot) Scheme 2025

Fáilte Ireland has announced the five destinations selected to take part in the new Home of Halloween Destination Development Scheme. This pilot initiative, launched in March 2025, is a key action under the ‘Ireland, Home of Halloween’ Strategy and aims to position Ireland as the authentic global home of Halloween.

Following a competitive application process, five Local Authority-led destinations have been awarded funding to develop immersive Halloween-themed festivals rooted in local heritage, folklore, and community spirit. The successful destinations are:

  • Galway City Council
  • Longford and Westmeath County Councils (joint application)
  • Meath and Louth County Councils (joint application)
  • Kerry County Council
  • Fingal County Council
Each destination will receive up to €100,000 annually over a three-year period (2025–2028), with the potential to extend to five years, subject to budget availability. This investment will support the development of vibrant Halloween experiences that attract visitors during the off-peak season and contribute to regional economic growth.

The scheme is expected to generate over 270,000 additional visitors and deliver €17 million in economic impact across the five destinations over three years. It will also support more than 500 direct and indirect jobs.

The Home of Halloween Destination Development Scheme builds on the success of flagship events such as the Púca Festival and Fire & Shadows Processions, and reflects Fáilte Ireland’s commitment to developing sustainable, culturally rich tourism offerings that extend the season and support local communities.
