Fáilte Ireland’s New Year’s Eve Light Show to bring viewers on a Countdown Virtual Tour of Ireland

Fáilte Ireland will showcase Ireland’s beauty this New Year’s Eve with a countdown tour of the country illuminating locations from Kilkenny to Cork, Killarney, Tipperary and Killaloe with a special live performance of New Day from Lyra.

The showcase is part of RTE’s NYE Countdown, presented by Kathryn Thomas and Deirdre O’Kane live from the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin, which kicks off at 22.45 on RTÉ One and on the RTÉ Player.

Each year approximately 1million people tune in to the Midnight Moment at home and abroad. Director of Product Development at Fáilte Ireland, Orla Carroll says this year the National Tourism Development Authority is reminding viewers of Ireland’s spectacular beauty through illumination and song.

“Last year, we welcomed over 100,000 people to the streets of Dublin for Fáilte Ireland’s annual New Year’s Festival (NYF). While we can’t celebrate in the same way this year, we have teamed up with RTÉ to bring an extra special countdown to viewers across Ireland, and the world, as part of this evening’s NYE Countdown Show. The midnight moment, which can be enjoyed safely in people’s homes, will showcase locations across Dublin, Ireland’s Ancient East, the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands. The show will not disappoint.”
