Fáilte Ireland launches new website

As part of Fáilte Ireland’s major drive to encourage people to take domestic breaks, the National Tourism Development Authority has today launched its new look website for domestic visitors,

The new website has been redesigned as the one-stop shop for domestic visitors, showcasing the wealth of things to see and do across Ireland.

Fáilte Ireland research shows that domestic visitors often feel that they are familiar with Ireland’s well-known destinations and attractions, so interest in new and off the beaten track experiences and activities is soaring. The research also shows that planning lead times are getting shorter.

Speaking about the new website, Claire Cadogan, Head of Digital Marketing at Fáilte Ireland said:

“We know through our latest research that 60% of Irish people are planning a domestic break in Ireland in the next five to six months. People want reliable information on things to do and see quickly, easily and more often on the go.  We have built with mobile users in mind and the content puts the needs of the visitor first and makes planning domestic breaks easy and fun. The site features unique local content and hidden gems which people want more and more of, as well as the traditional well-known attractions and sights, presented in a way that caters to all visitor demographics and interests. There’s a big focus on destinations and interests such as walking, nature and water sports as our research shows that’s what people look for first when planning and are keen to explore now that we can get back out and take a break.”

The research also shows that safety is a significant concern for holidaymakers. Fáilte Ireland launched the COVID-19 Safety Charter to reassure visitors that the tourism businesses they visit have committed to adhere to the correct safety measures and hygiene protocols. The COVID-19 Safety Charter symbol will be featured on all tourism business listings on that have signed up to the Charter.

Fáilte Ireland is encouraging tourism businesses to get involved added Claire Cadogan:

“A feature of is driving more referrals to the websites of tourism businesses. We need businesses to ensure they are listed and to keep those listings updated using new and vibrant imagery so we can best capture and engage visitors in all of the brilliant things to see and do across the country.”
