Last week marked the re-opening of the tourism and hospitality sector and I do hope your return to business was as smooth and successful as possible.
Fáilte Ireland’s latest research tells us that safety is still a significant concern for people as they plan domestic trips. We developed our new COVID-19 Safety Charter to boost public confidence in the safety of tourism and hospitality businesses and I would encourage all businesses to sign up now.
At the weekend, we launched a national public awareness campaign for the COVID-19 Safety Charter, designed to put the initiative and its safety symbol front of mind for the consumer. The campaign will run across TV, print and radio, and digital platforms telling consumers to watch out for the COVID-19 Safety symbol.

While our COVID-19 Safety Charter aims to reassure consumers that the tourism and hospitality businesses that they visit have committed to adhere to the correct safety measures and hygiene protocols, our new domestic marketing campaign ‘Ireland, make a break for it’ encourages people to book a break in Ireland this summer and feedback on the campaign has already been hugely positive.

To continue to support businesses as they re-open, we have worked with industry experts to develop a suite of business re-opening supports on areas such as Sales and Marketing, Finance and HR. These new supports complement our Operational Guidelines for re-opening and will help businesses to plan out the key elements of recovery.
