Dublin Tourism Briefing

Dublin Tourism Briefing

Fáilte Ireland took the chance to look ahead and discuss the opportunities and challenges for tourism growth in the Dublin region with 200 tourism trade in in the wonderful surroundings of The Abbey Theatre.

Keelin Fagan, Head of Dublin and Sam Johnston delivered their plans for Leisure and Business Tourism for the season ahead. If you were not in a position to attend the event please find the presentations here.

Pól Ó’Conghaile also chaired an insightful and interactive discussion on many relevant issues with a panel of industry experts. As with any great success story, sustainability is the key and we need to keep an eye to the future: the implications for Dublin as the Brexit story unfolds; to what extent the city and county can accommodate demand; and how Dublin can remain competitive in the minds of the visitor during this period of such strong growth.

This is the first of a number of briefings which will take place across the country in the coming weeks.

Speaking about the briefings, Chief Executive, Shaun Quinn emphasised –

“It has been a busy and fruitful year for many tourism businesses and this was illustrated by the high level of engagement at the briefing. While issues, such as Brexit and its potential impact are on everyone’s mind, the mood amongst attendees was one of guarded optimism. The future may look uncertain but this simply serves to underline the importance of continuing to work together for sustainable growth and a sector where tourism can flourish regardless of external influences.”
