QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) is the state agency responsible for award standards for both National Tour Guiding and Regional Tour Guiding. A number of education and training providers have programmes validated by QQI to support achievement of these standards.

Up to 2017, Fáilte Ireland issued badges to Tour Guides on successful completion of a Tour Guide training programme.  Since the QQI development and review of Tour Guiding standards, providers of validated programmes agreed to provide badges to graduates of the National Tour Guide and Regional Tour Guide programmes. 

To support this, Fáilte Ireland has provided the design templates to those providers offering the relevant tour guide programme.

For those Tour Guides that achieved recognition pre-2017, Fáilte Ireland will continue to support the provision and replacement of badges on request on a cost recovery basis.

Fáilte Ireland will continue to be an advocate of tour guiding and recognises the importance that tour guiding plays in enhancing the visitor’s experience of Ireland.
