Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) is the state agency responsible for award standards for National and Regional Tour Guiding. A number of education and training providers deliver programmes validated by QQI to support learners to meet these standards.
Up to 2017, Fáilte Ireland issued badges to tour guides on successful completion of a training programme. Following the review of standards, providers of validated programmes now issue badges to graduates. Fáilte Ireland supports this by supplying approved design templates.
Tour guides recognised before 2017 can still request new or replacement badges from Fáilte Ireland on a cost recovery basis.
Fáilte Ireland continues to champion tour guiding as a vital part of the visitor experience in Ireland.
