Global Irish Festival Series
Some 70 million people around the world claim to have Irish roots and many of them enjoy tracing those roots while holidaying in their home county each year.
Following the success of the Gathering in 2013, a legacy opportunity was identified which saw Fáilte Ireland collaborate with the Department of Foreign Affairs to create the Global Irish Festival Series.
Participating counties are sending an irresistible invite to the Irish abroad to make the trip back home and celebrate the culture of their own home county, uncover shared histories and forge new, lasting connections.
In 2024, the Series is setting up camp along the Wild Atlantic Way, with events taking place in the counties of Mayo (Home to Mayo, 1st-31st May) and Kerry (An Turas Mór/Homecoming Kerry, 18th October-1st November).
