Management Training: The Fundamentals of People and Performance Management

  • Q23. What is the Fundamentals of People and Performance Management Training?
  • This training programme is a core element of the Employer Excellence Programme and has been developed in collaboration with top HR experts. The programme is delivered online through learniFI and is self-paced, consisting of three 2-hour modules. This flexible format allows learners to engage with the content at their own convenience, with a focus on applying the learning in real time throughout the course.

Once your business signs up to the Employer Excellence Programme, we will arrange a demonstration of our learning management system learniFI and show you how to enrol your team on the relevant modules for the Fundamentals training.

Training covers a broad range of topics, including the latest best practices in induction, effective leadership, performance management, and building high-performing teams. Participants also gain access to a comprehensive set of resources to help apply their learning in day-to-day operations. The course is particularly suitable for those who have not yet received formal training, or for those who would benefit from updating their skills.

  • Q24. Do all staff have to complete the Fundamentals of People and Performance Management training?
  • We recommend that all your supervisors and people managers are enrolled in the training programme to ensure that they are trained to a similar high standard and that a consistent approach is maintained throughout your organisation. It is a requirement that a minimum of 70% of your supervisors and managers enrolled on the training complete all three modules in the first year of the programme.

Businesses who have already completed the first phase of the Employer Excellence Programme will not be required to retake this aspect of the Programme, though we do recommend that businesses use the Fundamentals as part of their training for all newly appointed supervisors and people managers, regardless of when they join the business. Refresher training will be required five years after The Fundamentals of People & Performance Management was first completed.

A short, dynamic and practical version of the Fundamentals of People & Performance Management, called ‘People & Performance in Action’ will also be made available exclusively to Employer Excellence Programme participants to support you in providing quick and impactful refreshers to your team so that they can apply the learnings in their day-to-day operations. This follows feedback from businesses who say they would like access to the useful resources that the training provides in an easily accessible for their teams. We also plan to share updates on other relevant modules and training available on learniFI which may be shared with your wider teams.

  • Q25. What do I need to complete the management training programme?
  • To complete the training, you/your employees will need a quiet space, a desktop computer or laptop, an internet connection, and time for reflection. Due to the extensive content in each module, we do not recommend attempting to complete all modules at once. We would encourage learners to take time between each module to implement the learning before proceeding to the next. It is important to focus on actively reinforcing the learning with your teams and to ensure all your people managers complete the course to maintain consistency of approach within your business.

  • Q26.What topics does the Fundamentals of People and Performance Management learning programme cover?
