The Employee Engagement Survey

  • Q13. What survey provider do I use?
  • Fáilte Ireland has approved a number of survey providers to provide services for the Employer Excellence Programme. The list of approved survey providers is available here If your business has 20 employees or more you should browse the list, make contact and then appoint the survey provider that best suits your business needs.

    If your business has less than 20 employees, Fáilte Ireland will appoint a survey provider on your behalf. Contact employerexcellence@failteireland.ie for more information.

  • Q14. Is the cost of the survey covered by Fáilte Ireland?
  • No. If your business has 20 employees or more you should choose and appoint an approved survey provider based on your business needs and pay for this service directly.

    If your business has less than 20 employees, Fáilte Ireland will appoint a survey provider on your behalf. Contact employerexcellence@failteireland.ie for information on any associated costs.

    Fáilte Ireland provides the wider programme of Employer Excellence supports at no additional cost. These include the 121 clinics with our HR experts, our capability building supports, awards, PR, marketing and access to LearniFI content.

  • Q15. Can I use a survey provider not on the approved list?
  • No, you must use one of the approved survey providers. See Q10 for information on how survey providers can apply for approval.

  • Q16. I currently use an employee survey provider not on your approved list. Can they be approved?
  • If your business is currently using a survey provider who is not approved, you should suggest they contact us at employerexcellence@failteireland.ie for information on being assessed for approval. Applications from new providers are accepted periodically. Fáilte Ireland has engaged an independent service provider to implement a transparent and robust assessment framework, ensuring that only methodologically sound and industry-aligned providers are selected for inclusion.

  • Q17. Can I register for the programme without having appointed a survey provider?
  • No. If your business has 20 employees or more and has previously participated in the Employer Excellence Programme then you should appoint your survey provider first from the list of approved providers and then register for the programme.

    Business with less than 20 employees will have a survey provider appointed by Fáilte Ireland and should contact employerexcellence@failteireland.ie for further information.

    If your business has not previously participated in the Employer Excellence Programme, then you should first complete the Expression of Interest form to assess your eligibility for the programme.

  • Q18. How many of my team members are required to complete the employee engagement survey?
  • To establish robust results in the survey, your survey must have a minimum response rate. The number of responses required depends on the size of your business as outlined below. Your survey provider will discuss this further with you.

    50-99 employees 70%
    100+ employees 60%

  • Q19. How long will it take to receive and complete my staff survey?
  • You should engage directly with your survey provider on everything relating to your survey. They will agree a timeline with you to issue your survey to your employees and the date by when the survey should be completed.

    The survey will generally remain open for a two-week period for your employees to complete, but this may be adjusted if required depending on the needs of the business, and in agreement with the survey supplier.

  • Q20. Where do the results of my employee survey go?
  • The individual results of each question on your survey remain fully confidential between the employee and the survey provider. The final scores of your employee survey will remain confidential between your business and the survey provider. Fáilte Ireland will not see any individual survey results or scores but will get the overall score for your businesses and the overall score in five key areas, Culture & Work Environment, Communications & Involvement, Employee Engagement, Management & Leadership, and Fairness. All information provided to Fáilte Ireland will be in line with GDPR requirements

  • Q21. Will my survey provider give me an actionable insights plan?
  • Survey providers are not required to provide an action planning session, though some providers may choose to do so. Fáilte Ireland will appoint a HR mentor to work with you on an action plan after you have received your survey results and insights report, addressing any issues highlighted by your employee survey and report.

  • Q22. What is the closing date for completion of the Employee Survey?
  • Surveys should ideally be completed by November each year if the business is to be considered for the Employer Excellence Awards the following year. (For businesses in year 1, completion of the Fundamentals of People and Performance Management training is also required to be considered for the awards.)

    Your survey provider will confirm the completion date with you, allowing time to compile and return your results to Fáilte Ireland. Your survey provider will share the overall results with Fáilte Ireland as outlined in Q20.
