Front line tourism representatives from across the city and county were officially named ‘Dublin Champions’ by Fáilte Ireland at a ceremony in The National Gallery of Ireland. Nearly 140 members of the industry are now fully armed with the information to help visitors uncover some of Dublin’s hidden stories and experiences.

The group were recognised for completing a Dublin Champions Programme, developed by Fáilte Ireland, to ensure visitors to Dublin receive an excellent experience and are provided with up to date information related to what is happening in Dublin.

Speaking about the initiative, Mark Rowlette from Fáilte Ireland’s Dublin Team said -

“This initiative is going from strength to strength since its inception last year and we are delighted to honour these ‘Champions’ here in the National Gallery of Ireland.  To date over 350 tourism workers have participated in the programme and put simply, it’s all about championing the knowledge and enthusiasm that front of house staff have for their city.  Visitors rely on the recommendations and advice given to them, so making sure that front facing staff across Dublin tourism businesses are up to speed on all that Dublin has to offer is really key to the success of this programme.”

Participants have completed a Dublin dedicated workshop coupled with a guided familiarisation trip in the city centre or in locations along Dublin Bay.

Mr Rowlette explained –

“The programme is a full day immersion programme which is split between a workshop and familiarisation trips either within the city centre or to Dublin’s coastal villages. Following the programme, the Champions have a comprehensive understanding of what there is to do and see in the city and county and are more confident in providing great customer service by delivering the information that visitors are looking for.”
