Employer Excellence Programme

The Fáilte Ireland Employer Excellence Programme will support businesses to drive great employee engagement, and continuously build the appeal of their workplace.

It will spotlight excellent employers and help to reposition the tourism sector as a rewarding and attractive place to work. 

When an existing or potential employee sees the Employer Excellence symbol, they will know that the business is recognised for its quality people practices and for being a brilliant place to work.

How does the programme work?

The Employer Excellence Programme will run in three year cycles this timeframe will allow businesses the time needed to really embed proactive employee engagement into the culture and way of working of their business, which will ultimately help to reposition the wider industry as a rewarding career choice.

Programme Milestones

  • Complete your Employee Survey 
  • Receive your Action Plan tailored to your business 
  • Be awarded the relevant Fáilte Ireland Employer Excellence Programme Mark 


The Employer Excellence Programme will give businesses access to: 

  • Best in class People Management online training programme & toolkits. 

  • Fully confidential staff survey delivered by Great Place to Work. 

  • Report highlighting what keeps your staff. 

  • Support to drive your action plan. 

  • Official certification and recognition so employees will view your business as an appealing place to work. 

  • Access to continuous improvement supports. 

What are the Business Commitments?

Once businesses register through the Fáilte Ireland Trade Portal they are invited to commit to the following:  

Once the business has registered and all people managers have been added to the trade portal you will begin your journey to Employer Excellence. Each people manager will receive login details to the Fáilte Ireland learning platform where they can undertake the Fundamentals of People Management Training. Following this, businesses will then be connected with Great Place to Work to begin their Employee Survey.  

  • Commit to the programme for a total of three years. 
  • Sign their People Managers to the Fáilte Ireland Fundamentals of People Management Training. 
  • Execute the Great Place to Work survey each year. 
  • Developing areas identified in the business action plan. 
  • Applicants are asked to provide their employee numbers.
